What is a PNG file and why are your graphics in this format?

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a sophisticated, high quality image format designed to replace the use of other formats like GIF and JPEG in certain situations. We chose to use this format for our graphics because it is lossless (meaning there is no degradation in image quality) and it supports background transparency (which makes our graphics much easier to use).

PNG files can be opened and manipulated by any modern image editor, including Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, or Gimp. You can also use these applications to convert them to other formats if needed (such as JPEG or GIF).

How may I use your graphics? Are there any limitations?

You can use them for anything (even commercially). All of our graphics are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license, so they are entirely free for personal and commercial as long as you credit us in some way. For more information please see our license page.
